2014, ITV Studios Global Entertainment has landed international format rights to "Sing My Song" -- making it the first original Chinese talent show format to be brought overseas. The first "made-in-China" reality talent show going abroad. Sing My Song, is a Chinese reality talent show that premiered on January 3 2014 on CCTV-3, the Arts and Entertainment channel, reaching 480 million viewers over the series, with a total audience share of 37% in China (CSM).
"Sing My Song" is a studio-based music contest, searching for the best original songs in the nation. Four of the Chinese music industry’s most accomplished singer-songwriters share their experience and expertise as producers-judges, providing feedback and guidance to the contestants. The judges on the show share an important goal: They are scouting for songs that will be featured their own original music album. Sing My Song takes the talent show genre in a new direction, highlighting the musical creativity of the contestants. It has also become a social media phenomena. The show retains basic elements of "The Voice of China" such as blind auditions, two-way selection and battle rounds, but this time a score, lyrics and emotions are the main criteria for the judges. However "Sing My Song" is not a singing competition. What matters most is the mass appeal and market potential of the song. The singer’s and songwriter’s vocal skills and stage presentation are only a small part of the whole package. The show is a studio-based format conceived by Star China International Media and produced by Starry Productions. Rights are represented by ITV Studios. “We are excited to work with Alibaba Digital Entertainment to expand the reach of the show even further,” said Vivian Yin, chief representative of Star China and VP of Starry Productions. "This cooperation has two parts. Firstly, the ITV will produce and then broadcast 'the British song' same as our Chinese model in the UK within two years time. Secondly, they will represent our model and distribute it worldwide. Because ITV has ample past successful experience in promoting many programmes. They have offices around the world, and they have worked well with many other countries. So by working with ITV, we think that 'Sing My Song' will be promoted globally in a very short time," Tian Ming, CEO of Star Media, said. In UK version, Universal Music Group will be involved with the international territories that acquire the Sing My Song format from ITVS GE to produce locally. Universal Music will support the local broadcasters in a variety of ways, such as casting singer-songwriters as the show’s producer-judges, providing prizes and releasing original music from the series. Mike Beale, Director of International Formats for ITV Studios, said: “Universal Music Group has a proven track record of boosting the musical popularity of global hit TV formats, so this collaboration is testament to the potential of Sing My Song to become the next global musical television success. Having a partner of their calibre on board is sure to increase the already substantial interest we’ve had in the format from buyers around the world.” (Part resource from: CCTV News and Itv Stuido Global Entertainment)

I would like to promote my original music. Do you accept singers from the UK as i am finding it difficult to push and promote in the UK although my music has been played on the radio I think it has potential worldwide. Thank you for any help you can give me. Jackie Marie
